Pallets are now listed by game. 1) Joe, tell them what they've won! There are pallets here for eight games: Chrono Trigger (a complete set of pallets for all uncompressed images in the ROM), EarthBound, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Final Fantasy 3/6j, Mario Paint, Mega Man X, Secret of Mana, and Super Metroid. The names are fairly self-explanatory, but here they are anyway. *** List of Pallets *** --- Chrono Trigger --- Note on Chrono Trigger pallets - It is my belief that the last three colors in the character sprites are variable colors that change depending on the scene and the weapon equipped. Refrain from using them for general drawing unless you want weird effects with your characters. *aylafacepal.tpl - Pallet for Ayla's menu image in Chrono Trigger. *aylapal.tpl - Pallet for Ayla's sprites in Chrono Trigger. *chronofacepal.tpl - Pallet for Crono's menu image in Chrono Trigger. *chronopal.tpl - Pallet for Crono's sprites in Chrono Trigger. *frogfacepal.tpl - Pallet for Frog's menu image in Chrono Trigger. *frogpal.tpl - Pallet for Frog's sprites in Chrono Trigger. *luccafacepal.tpl - Pallet for Lucca's menu image in Chrono Trigger. *luccapal.tpl - Pallet for Lucca's sprites in Chrono Trigger. *magusfacepal.tpl - Pallet for Magus' menu image in Chrono Trigger. *maguspal.tpl - Pallet for Magus' sprites in Chrono Trigger. *marlefacepal.tpl - Pallet for Marle's menu image in Chrono Trigger. *marlepal.tpl - Pallet for Marle's sprites in Chrono Trigger. *robofacepal.tpl - Pallet for Robo's menu image in Chrono Trigger. *robopal.tpl - Pallet for Robo's sprites in Chrono Trigger. --- EarthBound --- *earthbound.tpl - Pallet for most of EarthBound's uncompressed sprites. --- Final Fantasy Mystic Quest --- *ffmq_title.tpl - Pallet for the title logo in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. --- Final Fantasy 3/6j --- *celespal.tpl - Pallet for General Celes Chere's sprites in Final Fantasy 3/6j. *chocobopal.tpl - Pallet for the Chocobo sprites in Final Fantasy 3/6j. The pallet file matches the unenhanced armor without the Varia or Gravity devices. It would be easy enough to change it just by adjusting the yellow colors, however. This is all assuming you're crazy/bored enough to take on the task of editing Samus... :P *space_pirate.tpl - Pallet for the insectoid Space Pirate sprites in Super Metroid. ************************ 2) So, now that I've got them, what do I do? Well, I'm assuming you have Snowbro's Tile Layer Pro, and the ROM of one of the games listed above. Open up the ROM in TLP, and click the pallet dropdown menu, then click Load. Alt-P-L is also acceptable. Then, click the pallet file you want to load, and click open. There you have it! The sprites that use that color pallet will show up in TLP as they do in the game. If you want to edit the pallet, use the Pallet Editor window and the save functions in the pallet dropdown menu. 3) How the heck did you make these, Blue? To get the screenshots I needed, I first opened up TLP, found the sprite I wanted a pallet from, and drew in the colors as they are arrayed in the Pallet Editor window. I saved my changes and then opened the ROM in my emulator. In there, I found the sprite I had edited, and took a screenshot of it. That shows you exactly what the pallet looks like arrayed in the editor. So, from here you can go one of two ways. If you want a quick and dirty pallet, just eyeball the colors from the screenshot into the editor. If one green is darker than another, just make it darker. Try to match up the tones more or less, but don't worry too much about it. If you want to get really precise, though, what you want to do is open up the screenshot and get the RGB value of each color. Any art program worth its salt (hell, even MS Paint :P ) will be able to do this. For example, open up your screenshot in Microsoft Paint, use the eyedropper on the color you want, then click Colors/Edit Colors. (You'll probably have to click Define Custom Colors then.) Then transcribe the RGB data from the art program into TLP's pallet editor, and you have a pallet that's EXACTLY what it is in the game. 4) How can I contact you, Blue?
