For those of you who don't know, the music played at the credits is called "Smiles and Tears", and believe it or not, it has words to it! The words are in Japanese though, but... They can be found on the Mother 2 CD booklet or the Mother 2 instruction booklet. But for those that have neither, I've put together this little text file. It's hard to follow the Japanese while listening to the music, especially if you don't know about Japanese pronunciation or things like that. But give it a try, it's really cool! I miss you tooku ni hanarete ENGLISH TRANSLATION (see note at bottom) --------------------------------------- The children are not here, but all my memories are here, in my backpack My lucky baseball cap, my worn out sneakers Deep in my pocket, my worn down guitar pick There were also things so sad that tears came, but you came to my side, everytime We thought we'd just be friends But without realizing it, maybe I loved you There was laughter, and we played, and while we got hurt we walked Shortcuts, and long routes too, while we were lost, I remembered It doesn't mean there are only people who believe in you I know only the heart you believe in can't be thrown away as it is, only you made me stronger Always you make me strong like a gentle breeze blowing, swaying the grass, you always walked around with a smile So, tears and smiles, in turn the two who came together again.... I miss you We were very far apart.... TRANSLATION NOTE: Please note that since this is a poem/song, translating it isn't very easy, since grammar pretty much gets tossed out the window. There were a few places where I changed the meaning a little bit, only because it would have taken 10 or 20 words to describe something. Of course this translation isn't exact. In fact, I don't like it very much. If anybody out there would like to try translating it for me, please feel free to do so! -Tomato (tomato@starmen.net)
